The 24th Supreme Court was appointed by Secretary Super Awesome Fun Times and confirmed by electoral citizens in individual confidence votes, following the December 2021 Secretarial election. This consisted of three Standing Justices and one Alternate Justice over a three-month term from 22 December 2021 to 22 March 2022. The final members of the 24th Supreme Court were Chief Justice South Miruva, Minor Justices Eloren and New Samon, and Alternate Justice Silverfish37.

Members[edit | edit source]

The Supreme Court confirmation vote concluded on 22 December 2021, and the four Justices internally elected South Miruva to serve as Chief Justice on 24 December 2021. Alternate Justice Silverfish37 resigned from the Court on 8 February 2022 to avoid any potential constitutional issues over their run for a General Assembly seat in an upcoming by-election.[1] With fewer than three weeks remaining before the commencement of the next Secretarial election, Secretary Super Awesome Fun Times re-appointed Silverfish37 as Alternate Justice directly on 16 February 2022, and Silverfish37 completed the remainder of the term as a final member of the 24th Supreme Court.[2]

Confirmations[edit | edit source]

Initial[edit | edit source]

As two election committee members were nominated for Cabinet positions, founder Kavagrad and Ghillemear, they were replaced by founder Cedoria and Asturies-Llion in accordance with the Secretarial Appointment Act.[3] The confirmation vote election committee thus consisted of founder Cedoria, Asturies-Llion, and Greylyn.

The following were the results of the confidence votes on Secretary Super Awesome Fun Times's initial appointees to the Supreme Court:

Position Appointee Result*
Standing Justice Eloren 26-1
New Samon 25-2
South Miruva 25-2
Alternate Justice Silverfish37 26-1

*Due to an error in the voting form, this confirmation vote did not offer an option to abstain for any position.

As a result, all four appointees were confirmed to their posts on 22 December.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  1. Justices are prohibited from holding "any other government portfolio" by Article V.7 of the Constitution.
  2. If a non-Secretary government position is vacated, and fewer than three weeks remain before the start of the scheduled election corresponding with that position's term, the Secretary appoints a replacement directly without any by-election or confirmation vote, as per Section 2.b of the Vacant Position Act.
  3. Kavagrad and Ghillemear were nominated for Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Information, respectively.
