New Samon (founded 31 March 2020) is an Assemblian politician who served as the 12th Secretary in 2021. They have also served as the Chief Justice in 2023, Vice Secretary in 2021, and a Member of the General Assembly between 2020 and 2021.

Samon is a member of what is considered the 'fifth generation' of Assemblians who founded following the separation of government powers in December 2019. They are one of three from this group to serve as Secretary, alongside Dyl and New Flamington, and the only nation remaining with exception of Antinios.

Political career[edit | edit source]

Samon's first entry into politics arrived with the 18th General Assembly in June 2020, a few short months following their founding. In their first term as MGA, they would propose the only amendment that was defeated during that term. Samon would run for for their second term with the 19th General Assembly, and would be successfully re-elected. They would, once again, submit a single piece of legislation. That single amendment was passed.

Following these terms, Samon would host an unsuccessful bid for Secretary in the December 2020 general election, placing third and losing to fellow MGA and 'fifth generation' politician, Dyl. They would be appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs under Dyl, before resigning over a month later, citing personal reasons and took a hiatus for a short period. Samon would be replaced with Grod Island for the remainder of the term.

Samon would return to politics with Dyl's re-election, serving dually as Vice Secretary in the 2nd Dyl Cabinet and a Member of the 21st General Assembly. Samon would submit one of three pieces of legislation that would be placed within the legislative queue. With the closure of the term, Samon would run a successful bid and become Secretary in a landslide result in the June 2021 general election, considering the two opposing candidates ran 'joke campaigns.' Under the 1st New Samon Cabinet, Samon and Dyl would effectively trade places as Secretary and Vice Secretary. This term would most notably oversee the closure of the embassy with Refugia, following a series of controversies with the region.

As Minister of Information, New Samon oversaw a regional census which concluded 29 November 2021. The results of which would not be released until 13 January 2022, 45 days later.
