Each main island and group of smaller islands is a state, the largest subdivision, with its own state government and limited autonomy, with the federal government maintaining significant control and the state and federal governments well integrated.

Main industries include trout fishing, IT, book publishing, and basket weaving. Since the discovery of oil reserves beneath the area around Runggen, oil brings in about $40 billion annually.

Due to the fact that Neo Enderion is formed from many islands, land transportation is more difficult; this is also why cars were able to be banned so quickly. Currently, the best ways to travel within islands is by bus, walking, and in the case of Fernhaven, Azurea, and Runggen, rail. Inter-island travel is predominantly by ferry and international travel is predominantly by air.
