List of officeholders: Difference between revisions

Four nations have served as Speaker of [[The Leftist Assembly]] since the [[General Assembly]] was formally separated from the [[Cabinet]] following the [[September 2019 general election]]. The role was largely performed by the [[List of officeholders#Secretary|Secretary]] until this time.

The Speaker is responsible for organising the activities of the General Assembly, maintaining an order of legislation to be considered by the General Assembly, communicating information of bills, amendments, and voting records to the public, and representing the General Assembly to the Cabinet in matters requiring urgent and direct communication.

Since the [[8th General Assembly]], there have been members of the General Assembly, originally named Senators, who have been solely responsible for legislative matters. Before this, all members of the General Assembly dually held either executive or judicial responsibilities.

From the [[15th General Assembly]], the Secretary and Prime Minister were no longer members of the General Assembly, and Senators were renamed to Members of the General Assembly (MGAs). The following list only includes those positions which solely concerned legislative responsibilities.
